BRIDGE Housing strengthens communities by developing, owning and managing high-quality, affordable homes for working families and seniors. We are looking for a highly organized Accountant I to join our development accounting team.
As an Accountant I, you will be responsible for handling acquisition and rehabilitation projects and a portion of the portfolio for properties that are going through reorganization, refinancing, litigation, major repairs, and/or resyndication. This includes general ledger accounting activities, monthly reconciliation process following a close calendar, monthly expense vs. budget analysis, surplus cash calculation and monthly draw preparation. You will work closely with project managers and will gain a working knowledge of construction deals and financing from a GAAP perspective.
This position is approved to start work remotely during shelter-in-place.
Responsibilities
- Complete monthly draws for external and internal funding
- Review daily cash entries
- Prepare monthly financial statement packages including balance sheet, income statement, budget vs. actual fluctuation narrative, and surplus cash
- Work with external auditors to create annual audits and prepare construction completion (cost cert) audits
- Review annual financial statements
- Prepare annual reporting for cities, counties, and agencies
- Perform various projects and analysis as needed
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Proven proficiency with Microsoft Excel
- Good communication skills
- Ability to handle confidential information in a discreet, professional manner
- Ability to work efficiently under supervision to meet time-sensitive deadlines
