We are working exclusively with a highly reputable and ambitious facilities management contractor who specialise in providing building maintenance services to clients within the high end residential and commercial sectors.

Due to continued growth they are currently looking to recruit an Account Manager to join the Southern team.

They are looking for someone who has proven experience in a similar role in the fm/building maintenance industry who has experience working in a fast-paced environment, as well as exceptional communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills. Additionally, the candidate must be highly organised and capable of working independently as well as part of a team.

Purpose of the role:

  • Responsible for the operational and financial performance of the Client Portfolio, developing the business to become a market leader, in line with the overall business strategy to get things right first time and, as a result, the quality of work to continue to be widely acknowledged throughout the UK.
  • Understand and champion the important balance in the relationships between the business, our customers and our employees. Recognise the need to prioritise each element without being detrimental to the others.

Customer Focus:

  • Plan, develop and implement strategy for operational management and development of the Client contract to meet the needs of our customer.
  • Establish, develop and maintain an effective partnership and working relationship with Client and any associated customers.
  • Evaluate local and national market conditions to ensure the correct mix of business and opportunities in order to establish a long-term customer base.
  • Meet with key clients to review the level of service delivery, to identify areas of continuous improvement opportunity and to resolve any issues that have escalated beyond the first line management responsibility.
  • Manage the business unit to ensure all of the necessary systems, processes and procedures are complied with and to ensure that the quality of service delivery enables the client to occupy their premises efficiently, cost effectively and without disruption.

Profit Focus:

  • Direct and manage the Client contract to ensure financial targets and profit margins are maintained and improved.
  • Direct and manage the Client contract to ensure costs remain within target budget and ensuring adequate planning and reviews with the management team.
  • Produce and manage regular monthly financial and operational reports on projects in line with business processes and IT systems.
  • Review customer, supplier and subcontractor agreements with a view to improve cash-flow via terms negotiations, whilst maintaining service delivery.
  • Ensure no financial penalties are imposed on the business.

Team Performance Responsibilities:

  • To manage the day-to-day performance of all Business Unit staff to include, support, frequent formal and informal meetings, setting SMART objectives and deliverables both at the annual PDR and throughout the year, as necessary.
  • Must conduct regular reviews with all Business Unit staff and discusses and co-ordinates information on operations and maintenance and forwards such information to the Employer as necessary.
  • Providing expert advice to engineers on how to improve the maintenance skills and to become more efficient.
  • Fully accountable for conducting induction training for new engineering members of staff.
  • Mentor Contract or Site Supervisor on best practices for managing contract issues and handling daily issues and tasks.

Commercial Responsibilities:

  • Manage all contract budgets within the Business Unit and have full Profit & Loss (P&L) accountability ensuring all contracts are delivered on budget.
  • Bi-monthly meeting to be held with the Finance Manager to review overdue invoices and retro quotations.
  • Understanding the requirements of existing clients and contracts to ensure their needs are being met.
  • Look for opportunities to grow the Busines Unit, whether through partnerships or new initiatives, and works to take advantage of those opportunities.

QHSE responsibilities:

  • Ensure that all engineering staff and sub-contractors comply fully with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999 and the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989. They are to ensure that all competent staff work safely on site and across the Business Unit. They are to ensure the clients House Rules and Regulations documentation is adhered to at all times when working on site.
  • Maintain 100% compliance on your relevant sites including sub- contractor consolidation.
  • Oversee the achievement of Health & Safety and business quality standards for their portfolios.
  • Conduct regular audits of all building’s areas, maintenance and project records to ensure that high standards are upheld throughout.
  • Manage the completion of Risk Assessments and Method Statements for all sites under their management.
  • Implement company standards, policies and quality initiatives.
