About the Field Account Manager role
As a Field Account Manager, you will be managing accounts within a given business area, whilst ensuring focus is given to a specific product area, enabling the account plans to be delivered. You will be working closely with key functions within the business and will be responsible for delivery of sales and profit to agreed KPI’s, whilst ensuring new channels of distribution are also explored to allow the business to grow in line with expectations.
This role is field-based and covers the South & South West of the UK including Devon, Cornwall, M4 corridor to greater London, Channel Islands, West/South Wales, Spalding, Droitwich, W.Midlands, Sussex and other surrounding areas.
Our Field Account Managers main duties and responsibilities will consist of but not limited to:
Commercial
- Achieve annual commercial sales targets – revenue, pairs, AVP.
- Practise true account penetration with each account, building trusting relationships with all appropriate personnel to develop and understand their business needs whilst communicating the objectives of Skechers.
- Manage the sell-in process for your product categories/account base ensuring delivery of key propositions through persuasive selling and an emphasis on thorough preparation, an excellent understanding of customer needs and focus on achieving goals.
- Organise and undertake quarterly business reviews with top accounts and monthly business reviews internally to maintain focus and ensure all possible steps are being taken to deliver the plan.
- Work with the Finance Team to proactively avoid credit issues that hinder shipping or lead to bad debt.
- Always keep abreast of the marketplace identifying buying trends arising from all channels, Retail, Mail Order, E-com and Buying Groups.
- Build good working relationships with the buyers and merchandisers.
- Provide regular updates to the Sales Manager weekly on the gender, specific to seen that week.
Products
- Know the product line and become an expert in your divisions by knowing the key sellers and newly bought and adopted styles, whilst identifying opportunities to place it.
- Plan and implement strategy to deliver KPI’s set by the business whilst being commercial and aware of the distribution strategy and its impact.
- Use the tools of the business to check distribution and ensure accounts are placing key styles.
Finance
- Work in line with the Finance Team to ensure the order book can be delivered.
- Identify and report areas of risk amongst account base early.
- Ensure all new account documentation is completed correctly, in full and signed.
- Hold regular meetings with Credit Control to ensure accounts are running smoothly.
Customer Service
- Maintain regular contact with Customer Services responding in a timely manner.
- Help manage the order book, and work as a liaison with Customer and Internal.
Marketing
- Be involved and help drive activity within your account base and update the business of progress and results.
- Build and develop Marketing account plans for key accounts with the Marketing Team ensuring the delivery of selling plans.Ensure all digital platforms are managed and maintained to required standard across all
- accounts.
Job Requirements
- Proven track record managing and delivering results as Field Account Manager or similar.
- High level of literacy and numeracy.
- Comfortable using data analytically to inform thinking and building compelling commercial arguments.Ability to be able to complete projects on time in full
- Ability to build a persuasive selling story through strong negotiation skills
- Ability to influence decisions internally and externally.
- Understanding of broader business financial principles and commerciality.
- Ability to analyze/spot trends and report to line manager
- Knowledge and understanding of competition law
- Self-sufficient and comfortable working with minimum of supervision
- Flexible in approach and a “can do” attitude
- Confident, professional, and articulate
- Strong Excel skills & experience in Word and PowerPoint
- Ability to communicate at all levels and work in a multi-functional business
- This role will incorporate extensive travel across the UK & Ireland and potential trips Internationally as and when required.
