GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Sales Manager West (SMW) is a highly visible role responsible for managing retail sales, merchandising rack needs, order fulfillment, pricing, promotions for assigned accounts. The SMW is also responsible to grow company sales in new accounts, grow existing accounts, and develop sustainable long term relationships with distributors.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
O Develop company business in the specified accounts and new accounts. Leverage sales activities including trade shows, e-mails, Marketing e-mails, phone calls and promotions, and face to face meetings.
o High level of autonomy to make decisions on developing new accounts, product assortment for each account, promotional program for each account. Program proposal is reviewed with Sales Director.
O Attain annual sales growth, trade spend, and monthly/quarterly forecast projections and sales goals. Analyze data and shipments to help deliver overall results.
o Make independent decisions on how to spend trade funds, forecasting by item by month, gap analysis of forecast to goals and create financially viable proposals to achieve goals.
O Use Sales Planning Tools for Volume, Promotion, and budgeting.
o Business protocol, less discretion on implementation of programs using Spicely Organic and customer tools (software or email). Does have discretion on when that occurs.
O Timely communication and accurate forecasting of the anticipated sales of spices and blends to reduce possible shorts or out of stocks and minimizing lost sales through ERP. Manage assortment and inventory on a timely basis to reduce OOS situations.
o High level of discretion to monitor and order product to be staged at Distributor or customer warehouses for purchase by consumers.
O Build relationships with buyer/category managers and penetrate key accounts at deeper levels to maximize sales results.
Responsible for the overall financial management of assigned Accounts.
o High level of autonomy to develop relationships with key account contacts.
O Conduct timely business reviews with key decision makers, present new Marketing Plans (Product, Pricing, Promotion, Merchandising) as needed.
o Business protocol to review business. High level of discretion to content of reviews.
O Collaborate with Director of Marketing to ensure timely, proper service levels maintained and customer satisfaction is positive.
O Attend Trade Shows, Regional Events, and Corporate Meetings as needed, which may include weekend travel and up to 4 weekends per year.
ESSENTIAL ABILITIES:
o Ability to multi-task and work successfully in a fast paced/dynamic environment.
o Ability to work with demands from multiple sources both internal and external.
o Ability to stay calm under pressure.
o Attention to detail.
o Strong verbal and written communication skills.
WORK EXPERIENCE AND JOB REQUIREMENTS:
o 3-5 years experience in CPG or long term sales relationship including sales management.
Strong track record of sales success – consistently above quota.
Strong computer skills, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word. Experience with ERP (NetSuite is a plus) and CRM systems.
o Excellent analytic, problem solving, organizational, negotiation, planning and people skills.
o Understanding of AC Nielsen, SPINS, IRI, Household Panel, and SPECTRA.
EDUCATION:
BA/BS in Business, Marketing or related field required. MA preferred.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS:
o Lifting up to 50 pounds.
o Must use safe lifting techniques.
o While performing the duties of this position, the team member is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger handle or feel objects tools or controls, reach with hands and arms, balance, stoop, talk, hear.
o Wearing personal protective equipment when in the facility is expected, and following the required safety procedures.
o Exposure to spices, dust; variable temperatures; there may be exposure to chemicals.

Base salary range: $80,000 to $140,000 per year.
