The Team
We have an exciting opportunity for an Account Director to join our Consultant Relationships Team. Reporting to the Director of Consultancy and Adviser Relationships the Account Director will be responsible for the strategic and operational relationships with a panel of leading workplace employee benefit consultancies.
The Role
The Account Director is the primary Aegon contact point for these accounts and to build strong relationships with Senior Management and key individuals at all levels within these consultancies. The Account Directors role requires:
- Delivery against financial objectives of each of the adviser relationships
- Maximising opportunities to tender and win new clients in order to achieve and exceed targets by demonstrating a high degree of understanding and expertise in large client requirements
- Work closely with Workplace Solutions management team to secure and strengthen panel positions and maximise partnering opportunities
- Leading, managing, facilitating and winning provider selection exercises (to include team meetings, 1:1 meetings, research surveys, site visits, tenders and Beauty Parades)
- Developing a team approach to other Workplace key account opportunities, ensuring greatest chances of success for the WP business
- Developing and leading strong and profitable business relationships with key personnel within strategically important Workplace consultants, to positively influence Aegon UK Workplace credentials and position
- Shaping our approach to Workplace Solutions implementation and tender support and cross business engagement
Key responsibilities (Included but not limited to):
Account Ownership & Management / Winning New Client Opportunities
- Leads Aegon ownership of relationships with senior personnel of leading EBC accounts and manage access to those relationships for AUK specialists and leadership team
- Drafts and implements Account Plans which focus on maximising new client opportunities and developing stronger, deeper business relationships with leading EBCs
- Clearly understands account’s current and future business strategy and how that strategy could impact on positioning of Aegon propositions and services
- Identifies current and future business opportunities, along with any potential threats to existing client retention
- Develop strong and effective relationships across the Aegon business to support your delivery to EBC accounts

Knowledge
- A strong understanding of Aegon workplace solutions, processes, systems and services
- A strong understanding of Aegon workplace operating structure and key departments and personnel
- A solid understanding of the processes and procedures to take financial or marketing promotion to market
- Demonstrate capability and understanding of complex large client requirements and future needs
- Demonstrate knowledge/understanding of ‘world class’ presentation skills
Experience
- A strong understanding the workplace market, the role of the corporate, the trustee and the consultant
- Preferable (but not essential) consulting experience with a leading UK consultant, working with a diverse panel of clients on all aspects of retirement saving and employee benefits
- A very strong working knowledge of all aspects of DC, both trust and contract and in tune with client needs in today’s market
- Experience working as a team player in a dynamic and ‘growth focused’ team
