Cheshire Archives and Local Studies, a shared service of Cheshire West and Chester Council and Cheshire East Council, has recently secured a National Lottery Heritage Fund delivery phase grant to relocate the service to new centres in Chester and Crewe and to deliver easy access to Cheshire's histories.
This one year role will contribute to the effective delivery of our Accredited Archive Service during the first year of our National Lottery Heritage Funded project by providing additional accessioning, appraisal, processing and cataloguing capacity and focussing on critical cataloguing to enable the safe move of collections.

We are looking for a qualified archivist to join our experienced team as we prepare for the transformation of our service. This is hands-on dedicated collections focussed role. You will be accessioning and listing collections, preparing them for a move and collaborating closely with our archivists and conservators. The tasks will be varied and challenging and depend on you working flexibly and to tight deadlines.
You will have excellent IT skills, in particular confidence in using Excel and experience in using collection management systems (preferably CALM).
It's important that you have the ability to work on your own initiative with minimum supervision, but also enjoy working within a wider team. We are also looking for someone who has excellent organisational and time management skills, excellent attention to detail and proven ability to maintain a high level of accuracy.
