We are looking for an Access and Outreach Officer to join Study Higher, the Uni Connect partnership covering Swindon, Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Berkshire. The purpose of the role is to help increase/widen participation in higher education (HE) for students from backgrounds currently underrepresented in HE. As the Access and Outreach Officer you will be responsible for delivering and evaluating attainment-raising activities, outreach supporting aspiration and mentoring programmes to learners from targeted groups in a selection of secondary schools and colleges across our four regions. You will provide impartial information, advice and guidance about the variety of HE options to learners. You will also support the design and delivery of outreach projects for targeted groups of learners including young carers, care experienced students and/or young people from Armed Forces families.
Access and Outreach Officer skills, knowledge and experience:
- Experience of working in an educational environment
- Knowledge of the secondary, tertiary and higher education sectors
- Experience of providing advice and guidance to young people
- Experience of design or delivery of educational or outreach programmes
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Understanding and belief in the widening participation agenda
- Experience and understanding of inter-agency collaboration with a varied range of stakeholders
- Experience in making presentations to a variety of audiences in an educational setting
- Capacity to be flexible and adaptable in approach to work
