Accelerated Detective Constable Programme Hertfordshire

Accelerated Detective Constable Programme Hertfordshire

Hertfordshire Police
Full Time 26682 GBP ANNUAL Today
Job description

Do you have a curious and inquisitive mind? Do you think you have the skills to be a detective?

If so, we are now open for applications for the Accelerated Detective Constable Programme (ADCP) and would encourage you to apply.

You are required to complete 2 stages of application to apply for the ADCP. These are:

  • The attached word document which is the ADCP Technical Application Form. This additional form must be completed and emailed to [email protected]
  • The application which you will access through the ‘apply now’ button and then you will be invited to attend The College of Policing National SIFT (this is online).

Applications submitted after the closing date will not be considered. If you are successful at the application stage, you will be invited to commence the SIFT process referred to above.

Successful candidates will be required to complete a year of intensive training and practical experience to ensure that the requirements of a police constable are met. Candidates will then spend a year undertaking three crime attachments, whilst also completing training in order to obtain the relevant qualification to become a detective. On completion of the programme, candidates will be posted into a detective role.

No previous policing experience is necessary to apply, but it is essential that anyone applying displays the skills and attributes suited to the role. This includes an inquisitive mind, excellent interpersonal skills and a high degree of integrity. It is a challenging job but also one which is extremely diverse and rewarding.

Starting Salary is £26,682 per annum plus £3000 south eastern allowance.

Please note, for Hertfordshire Constabulary internal candidates, if you are currently a communications operator, detention officer or PCSO, you will need to have completed a minimum duration of service in that role before you are able to apply. This is to ensure the constabulary receives a return on investment on the training invested for your current role. This is 12 months for PCSOs and 18 months for both detention officers and communications operators.

Members of the Special Constabulary and police community volunteers are welcome to apply.

This vacancy currently closes on 31st March 2023

If you have questions, please email [email protected] with the subject line Hertfordshire ADCP Application Query

If you are currently at the pre-employment checks stage to become a police officer with Hertfordshire Constabulary, unfortunately you are ineligible to apply.
