JOB DESCRIPTION
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Communicate and promote the Academy culture creating an elite environment for the development of young players.
- Have consistently high standards.
- Communicate and engage with staff/players/parents/guardians where appropriate.
- Attend all club and departmental professional development events.
- Actively engage in a fully functioning competency framework and integrated appraisal process.
- Monitor the wellbeing of Academy players at all times liaising with the Safeguarding Services Manager.
- Ensure compliance with all the Policies and Procedures contained within the Staff Handbook, paying particular regard to the Equal Opportunities Policy and Health & Safety Policy and procedures at all times.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
- To ensure that medical notes are confidential as well as completed and uploaded to the PMA system within 24 hours.
- To provide pitch side cover as an ATMMIF/ITMMiF qualified member of staff.
- Assessment and management of injuries to players from the U9 to U16 squad.
- Accurate recording of all injuries on the PMA system.
- Collate, analyse and feedback relevant medical information to the appropriate Club staff for all U9 to U16 players. This is to include updates on injured players, rehabilitation programmes, return to train/play dates and injury audits (but must respect and abide by medical confidentiality laws).
- The delivery of warm up and cool down elements within the match day and coaching programme, as required, in relation to the syllabus identified in the Sport Science and Medicine strategy.
- Assist with the delivery of individual and group athletic development services to our U9 to U16 players, as necessary.
- Delivery of individual injury minimisation programmes.
- Provision of medical cover for training and match day fixtures for our U9 to U16 squad, as necessary.
- Work effectively with other support staff and services, including doctors/sport science services, to provide an integrated approach to performance enhancement.
- To have an excellent understanding of the Emergency Action Plan for each site that training/matches occur (where we are the “home” team).
INDIVIDUAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist on the management of injuries for U9 to U16 players in line the Sports Science and Medical Department.
- Document all interactions with players on the PMA medical system.
- Contribute to and monitor the management of the injuries to the U9-U16s players, where necessary.
- Provide pitch side cover in your capacity as an ITMMiF qualified member of staff.
STAFF DEVELOPMENT
· Participate in the staff appraisal proggramme.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Qualifications
Essential Requirements
- BSc in Physiotherapy
- BSc (Hons) Sports Therapy or Equivalent
- Member of Chartered Society of Physiotherapy
- Full indemnity insurance and a member of a professional body (Sports Therapist)
- HCPC registered Physiotherapist
- FA Intermediate Trauma and Medical Management in Football.
- FA Child Welfare qualification
- Current DBS clearance
Desirable Requirements
- FA ATMMiF qualification
- Full UK driving license
Experience
Essential Requirements
- Forward thinking mindset to developing the department and programme.
- Experience managing pediatric MSK injuries.
Desirable Requirements
- Understanding of the Elite Player Performance Plan and the PMA application.
- Experience working within an elite football academy environment.
Knowledge and Skills
Essential Requirements
- Excellent verbal and written communication.
- Knowledge of musculoskeletal assessment and rehabilitation of elite level athletes (pediatrics).
- Excellent computer literacy, specifically in the use of Microsoft Office.
