Essex Professional Coaching is a physical activity and sports coaching provider that has been providing outstanding football provision across Essex since 2017.

Our Essex Select Academy programme offer's players across the U6 - U16 age groups the opportunity to develop their football skills in focused, invitation only training groups alongside a competitive programme of games.

Our mission is to ultimately bridge the gap from grassroots to academy football for talented grassroots players, whilst providing unrivalled experiences to support players in their football journey.

As an academy coach with Essex Professional Coaching, your role and responsibilities will include:

  • Plan, deliver and evaluate age appropriate football coaching sessions in line with our academy coaching syllabus
  • Support and feedback to both children and parents in regards to their child's development on a regular basis
  • Produce and develop an individual learning plan for each player that you coach in the programme
  • Liase with the academy manager to successfully implement the player recruitment and retention process
  • Lead the coaching group at various competitive fixtures, tournaments and festivals throughout the year
  • Be a role model for the children you coach, displaying passion, enthusiasm and care for the children you come into contact with to build positive relationships
  • Work as part of a coaching team to deliver a remarkable coaching experience for all involved
  • Set up and film all academy fixtures using the company Veo camera

To be considered for the football academy coaching role you must demonstrate the following:

Personal qualities

  • Motivated to deliver high quality football coaching sessions
  • Effective communication skills when interacting with both young people and adults
  • Passion for football and working with children
  • Ability to encourage, develop & inspire individuals through coaching
  • Reliability, with good time management skills
  • Be able to deliver on two different evenings midweek across Monday (7.30-9pm, Tuesday (6-7.30pm) or Thursday (5-6pm or 6-7.30pm) - Please note this is essential for the role

Skills & experience

  • Have previous experience of working with children aged between 5 - 16 to deliver football coaching activities
  • Hold the FA level 1 coaching qualifications (required)
  • 1st Aid Certification (required)
  • Safeguarding qualification (required)
  • Current enhanced DBS certificate (required)
  • Hold a UEFA C licence coaching qualification (desirable)
  • Hold a UEFA B licence coaching qualification (desirable)
  • Sports coaching or physical education degree/diploma (desirable)
  • Previous experience in coaching in a professional football academy (desirable)

After shortlisting has taken place, we adopt a 3 stage interview process:

1. Telephone Interview - To go through the role and get to know you better

2. Practical Delivery - You will be required to plan and deliver a session at one of our football centres based on a session objective provided by our team

3. Formal Interview - To discuss your suitability for the role
