We are looking for a full-time Academy Football Analyst to support in maintaining the club's relevant analytics processes and workflows. By providing insightful performance analysis to the Academy, at the youth development phase.

Arsenal Football Academy is the football development department for Arsenal Football Club, based at Hale End Sports Ground and London Colney, offering a full-time football training programme for elite youth players.
Our academy has for many years been a world leader in its field. The aim of the Arsenal Football Academy is to individually tailor each player’s development as a footballer by providing a World Class Youth Development programme. The programme promotes the development of elite training environments to consistently outperform international competition. By placing players at the heart of the programme, the aim is to develop and grow Strong Young Gunners, within the most challenging and caring football academy in the world.
Each player’s development is therefore considered holistically with focus placed on supporting players to show Respect, Discipline and Humility as they aspire towards becoming better people and consequently, better players.
Your day-to-day
Providing football analysis support to designated team(s) assigned based on age group. This support includes:
- Delivering an analysis programme to selected academy age groups, players and coaches.
- Filming and coding of home matches and away matches where required.
- Overseeing the management of the capture of training footage within the assigned phase, In order to provide material to feedback to both players and coaches.
- Building content for the weekly analysis sessions and leading the delivery when required.
- Ensuring that the individual player programmes are monitored, and content is generated for reviews & progression meetings.
- Supporting the continuous development of the academy’s learning resources – Academy playing philosophy and position-specific profiles.
- Overseeing the management of the building individual, unit and team best practice libraries (Training & Matches).
- Coordinating with the relevant medical, physiotherapy, fitness and football staff regarding player performance.
Match-day analysis:
- Providing film and coding support for matches in the academy, where possible, live feedback to the coaches.
Ad-Hoc analysis:
- Assisting in the development of the department and play an active role in aggressively pushing boundaries in order to achieve its targets.
- Assistance with any analysis processes across the academy may be required, but on an ad- hoc basis.
- Providing support to the Coach Developer, in the collection of learning resources for assigned phase coaches.
What we are looking for
Specific experience:
- Previous experience of working within professional football in order to understand the unique nature of football culture and how best to apply the principles and fulfil the role of a performance analyst.
- Experience working at professional academy level (Essential).
- Experience accurately analysing multiple and often complex data streams in order to understand performance.
- Experience implementing telestration tools (Desirable).
- Experience in delivering and communicating performance insights to key stakeholders in the organisation.
- Experience of observing and/or being subjected to different sporting environments
- Understanding of varying working methodologies and best practice within elite sports analysis.
Abilities/Skills/Knowledge:
- Ability to link theory to practice in a practical environment.
- Ability to retain a very high standard of output whilst operating within deadlines.
- Technical and tactical understanding of football (strategies, systems, philosophies, game models).
- Exceptional inter-personal skills that facilitate the effective delivery of performance insights, build connections and support a strong team cohesion – Building strong relationship with our players.
- Ability to adapt to emerging technologies and their application in automating working processes.
- Strong desire to continuously challenge, learn and move forward.
- Ability to work within a dynamic team but comfortable managing own workflow/deadlines.
Education:
- Minimum undergraduate degree relating to the field of sports science, coaching and performance or performance analysis
Qualifications:
- FA Level 2 coaching license or above is preferable
Training:
- Competencies in the following software/hardware are desired: Game On Technologies, SBG Match Tracker & Focus, HUDL products and platforms.
- Comprehensive understanding of Tableau (Advantage)
