We are looking for a new Academic Operations Officer who is dedicated to delivering high standards of customer service. The post is located within the Academic Office team, which is responsible for the administrative support for each of the University’s academic Schools. The postholder will be responsible for completing administrative work required for the employment of Visiting Tutors and Casual Staff, working closely with Finance/Payroll and the Timetabling team to ensure the completion of, for example, Right to Work checks. The postholder will be required to work closely with HR to have a broad view of the VT employment lifecycle from pre-employment checks to monthly Payclaim submissions and authorisation. We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual for this busy, challenging and varied post.


The role would suit a candidate who has excellent administrative and organisational skills, and a good attention to detail. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of working at a highly-competent level with digital systems, especially Word, Excel and Outlook. Experience of working within Higher Education would be an advantage. The post-holder will be expected to become a source of expertise on the rules and regulations governing the employment of external workers.


The post-holder should have the ability to deliver the highest level of effectiveness in administrative arrangements and support as well as excellent verbal and written communication skills. The successful candidate will be organised, able to work well under pressure and be able to prioritise a busy workload within a fast-paced environment.
