Academic Electronic Notetaker (ENT)(HE) Wirral Metropolitan College September 2023 start date

Beacon Support Ltd. are recruiting Electronic Notetakers to work with higher education students for in-person support, with a start date in September 2023 for an estimated 6-7 hours per week.

As an Electronic Notetaker you will attend various lectures and seminars to support students with disabilities or mental health conditions who require notes to be taken on their behalf. Notes should contain pertinent information from the session, including diagrams and references. These are given to students within an agreed time frame, and in a format and style that meets a student’s requirements
Responsibilities:
* Producing accurate and legible electronic notes for lectures, seminars and tutorials
* Reviewing notes at the end of the lecture, and ensuring they are in a suitable and accessible format for the student
* Maintaining a professional role as a notetaker at all times, including maintaining confidentiality
* Acting in the best interests of learners at all times
* Ensuring that any concerns are addressed in a timely manner
Requirements:
Educated to, or studying towards (2ndyear onwards), a degree level qualification
Experience in studying or working in a Higher or Further Education setting
Specialist Notetakers should hold one of the following qualifications:
- CACDP Level 3 Certificate for Language Service Providers working with Deaf and Deafblind People (Notetaking) OR
- NRCPD Registered Notetaker OR
- Signature NVQ 2 electronic notetaking OR
- Level 3 certificate in facilitating communication with deaf people (notetaking skills) OR
- OCN Level 3 Certificate in Electronic Notetaking OR
- CACDP Level 2 Certificate in Manual Notetaking for Deaf People OR
- CACDP Level 2 Certificate in Electronic Notetaking for Deaf People OR
- CACDP Level 3 Certificate for Manual/Electronic Notetakers OR
- In house training as a notetaker for deaf students that is formally accredited (or the course is in the process of being accredited) by one of the above organisations, or another recognised accreditation body
For STTR:
- CACDP Level 3 Certificate for LSPs working with Deaf and Deafblind People (Speech to Text Reporting) OR
- NRCPD Registered Speech to Text Reporter
Other skills:
* Ability to present notes accurately and in a presentable manner
* Capacity to listen and capture the main points of a lecture
* Ability to work quickly and under time restrictions
* Excellent IT skills – the ability to type at the speed of 60WPM
* An excellent standard of English, including accurate spelling and grammar skills
* Punctuality and reliability, with good organisational skills
* Ability to work flexibly and autonomously
