Investigations Support Assistant
An opportunity has arisen for Trainee Investigator in an established Brand Protection Investigation Company based in Essex. This presents a unique, entry level opportunity into a career in investigating Intellectual Property Crime nationally and internationally. You will benefit from working with experienced Investigators, researchers and analysts as well as having an opportunity to develop your career through specific learning / training modules in IP and investigations.
What you will be doing:
Completing data entries, maintaining and updating case files and other evidential records.
- Assist in the examination, preservation, processing and storing of evidence/exhibits/property and recovered during any investigative process – maintaining continuity in accordance with established evidential procedure.
- Assisting in investigations by undertaking a wide range of tasks under the direction of the Investigations Manager
- Monitoring internet and other social media sources using proprietary software programs and Open Source Research tools.
- Submitting accurate reports
- Liaising with public and private sector agencies/clients
- Assisting law enforcement during raid actions
- Following initial training - conducting simple evidential processes as part of wider investigations
What we are looking for from you:
Primarily we are looking for someone who wants to learn and is not afraid to get stuck into a challenging industry.
- Ability to work within defined regulations and following established procedures
- The ability to work under pressure and to meet deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with an inherent attention to detail
- To be computer literate and able to demonstrate a methodical approach to work (Must be proficient in use of MS Office applications and MAC processes)
- Able to demonstrate understanding and use of social media platforms
- Well organised and able to problem solve
- Demonstrate a high level of integrity, resilience and professionalism
- A knowledge / understanding of PACE (Police & Criminal Evidence Act) and RIPA (Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act) is desirable but not essential as relevant training / awareness will be provided.
- Able to work within a fast paced professional environment and willing to work flexibly
Please note this role is subject to a security vetting process. The successful candidate must hold a full UK driving licence and be willing to travel nationally and internationally, sometimes at short notice.
What we offer you
This is a permanent full time position – office based in our recently refurbished air conditioned offices. The provision to work remotely will be available subject to work conditions and commitments and after the completion of a successful probationary period.
Salary range £18,000 to £20,000.
25 days leave entitlement (plus public holidays)
