Main duties of the job

  • Manage operational staff within the service.
  • To be responsible for production and delivery of service business cases as required.
  • Provide senior management leadership in supporting The Hub’s contribution to the Breast Screening Group agenda and national plan, within the clinical and corporate governance frameworks of the Trust.
  • To ensure The Hub meets Trust and NHS Breast Screening Programme (NHSBSP) relevant guidelines and targets.
  • Provide leadership for clinical governance assurance within the service.
  • Remain up to date with changing objectives, National guidance, frameworks and directives, advising the division as necessary.
  • Promote world class care and work in a way that is client - centred, involves service users, responds positively to feedback from user groups and promotes teamwork across the service.
  • Promote a culture of safety and quality, openness and accountability, public service and teamwork in an environment of flexibility in which innovation can flourish in response to clients’ needs.
  • Develop appraisal, objective-setting and performance development plans for all Service managers within The Hub. This includes ensuring that all staff groups covered by the post-holder have clear objectives set as part of their appraisal with professional heads.
  • Deputise for the Operations Manager when required.
  • Ensure the delivery and compliance of mandatory training requirements for all staff Trust standards and targets.

Working for our organisation

The role of The Hub is to support all 6 London clinical breast screening units and over 1.3 million eligible women across London in their 3 yearly screening round, aged 50-70. The Hub provides support in relation to numerous administrative functions, including (but not exhaustive) patient data collation and reporting, appointment scheduling and a call centre to manage appointment cancellations and rebooks.

The post holder will be responsible for running a cohesive and effective team, building and maintaining strong relationships with multiple external stakeholders and ensuring that the department meets Trust and NHS Breast Screening Programme (NHSBSP) relevant guidelines and targets.
