3rd Line Support Engineer / Platform Engineer
The Platform Engineer role will focus on delivering operational availability and reliability to Arqivas IT platforms. You will be working as part of the Platform Team to deliver both on-premise and cloud capabilities to the digital delivery teams.
The role requires a broad understanding of Platform technologies and will suite someone who is interested in a varied workload where no one day is the same. You will have an automation-first mindset, focusing on delivering new solutions and continuous improvements to reduce the burden of BAU operational tasks.
Salary: Up to £45,000 and comprehensive company benefits
Location: Crawley Court, Winchester - Flexible working with 1 day per week on site.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Provide BAU and Project support to the Digital Delivery team, ensuring availability and consumablility of the Platform.
- Multi-Domain support including AD, ADFS, Group Policy, Certification Services and 365 services.
- Support and manage the on-premise Platform(s), predominantly based on VMware, utilising HCI technologies such as Nutanix and VXrail.
- Provide SaaS/PaaS Microsoft Platform lifecycle support to the various hosted product owners.
- Provide day-to-day monitoring of the Platform(s) utilizing tooling such VRealize Operations Manager, Solarwinds, vRealize Log Insight and vRealize Network Insight.
- Responsible for providing Platform SDN support utilizing VMware NSX-T.
- Assist with the development of an automation first approach, utilising key tooling such as Ansible, Terraform, Gitlab and vRealize Automation.
- Utilise tool such as WSUS, SCCM, VUM, AOS to provide server/host patching and remediation.
- Support and manage the on-premise storage arrays, mainly based on EMC VNX and Unity.
- Responsible for Enterprise back-ups utilising an EMC Networker and DataDomain Methodology.
- Developing and maintain technical and user documentation.
- Managing and responding to incidents and requests, reviewing these for enhancements to our proactive monitoring and service offerings.
- Develop and apply engineering standards and procedures and provide technical guidance to external and internal stakeholders
Must haves:
- Strong VMware vSphere experience.
- Windows Server Management (2008 – Onwards).
- Working knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy and DNS.
- Demonstrable knowledge of Hyper Converged solutions such as Nutanix/VXRail.
- Backup Technology Experience.
- Scripting Knowledge, Powershell or Python would be beneficial.
- Ability to attain SC Level Clearance.
Might haves
- Working knowledge of VMware NSX-T.
- Cloud technologies such as Office365, Azure and AWS.
- Exposure to VMware vRealize Suite or VMware Horizon View.
- Redhat Linux exposure.
- Gitlab, Github, Terraform or other automation and config tooling.
