Waldon Telecom operates as a Wireless Telecommunication Infrastructure Services Company and is part of the Telecom Division of M Group Services. Due to the continued success and expansion of Waldon we are looking for a 3 Person Rigging Team to form part of our Field Operations Function across the North, Midlands and South of the country.
The role & responsibilities:
The appointed 3 Person Rigging Team will be an experienced PCN mobile telecoms rigging team which will successfully deliver site builds across a number of Telecom Projects and Clients. Sites need to be delivered in a cost effective and timely manner, as well as to meet the highest industry standards within the Clients deployment and design guidelines. Projects will vary from new site builds, Technology Upgrades, Equipment Lift & Shift, Site Decoms, TX Line Of Sight (LOS) works as well as simple Pre-installation Visits (PIVs) and Feasibility Surveys.
The Team Leader:
- Will need to show the ability to lead individuals / teams, and respond well to the pressure of doing so.
- Be able to interpret detailed drawings and the SCF / RDS, and brief others on site as to their requirement.
- Be able to successfully choose the right method for lifting / lowering of steelwork, antennas, RRU's etc.
- Show a good understanding of RET tailing, being confident that the correct specification is being followed for that site.
- Understand which tagging is required on each site, and be able to describe why each element is tagged as such.
- Be able to terminate all feeder cables (4-50, 5-50, 6-50 & 7-50) and earth these feeders.
- Ability to successfully test sites for both PIM testing and Site master testing, displaying a methodical approach.
- Be able to successfully complete Rigging RICC’s (MBNL) and ASICC (TEF/VF) documents, right first time.
- Be able to follow all site specific and relevant risk assessment and method statements.
- Be able to align antennas, using a SPA-005 or 3Z AAT and use a Kathrein PCA to configure the RET motors.
- Ensure that all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is available and that all required checks have been carried out.
- On the Day (OTD) Report must be supplied as part of operational field requirements.
- The individuals will be competent and confident with the installation process of Rigging PCN sites and will show an active interest in learning and developing themselves as a Rigger. The Rigger 2nd Person must have the full confidence of his/her Team Leader to be able to work to their own devices on site.
- Be able to get to any point on a mast or rooftop safely, in good time, land the rope and block in quick time, ensuring the right location is selected to avoid damage or issues during lift.
- With the support of the team leader/ 2nd person, be able to successfully choose the right method for lifting / lowering of steelwork, antennas etc.
- Make up studs / clamps / Remclamps / Jubilee's / CTL adapters, ensuring the right type is selected for the job.
- Make up the tagging, having enough in depth knowledge to explain what each tag represents, with regards to users, technologies, frequencies etc.
- Show a good understanding of Health and Safety and its implications on each individual job.
- Able to align and test antennas using a SPA-005 or 3Z AAT without supervision.
- Be actively expressing an interest in the Dynamic Risk assessments, and MBNL Deployment Site Works checklist, the use of the Kathrein PCA for RET configuration and in the Rigging Handover Packs (HOPs)
- Be actively expressing an interest in Logging on to site, locking the site down and in Site master testing.
What we need from you:
Successful team delivery and customer acceptance of sites across “Time, Cost, Quality” matrix. To produce all Handover pack information in a timely fashion upon works completion, and submit to the back office. To ensure all appropriate SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environment & Quality) information is compiled daily. To operate and maintain and look after the company van, toolkits and electronic hand tools and test equipment. You will have a proven history of forming a successful PCN team for other Telecoms companies, with references available upon request. MBNL and / or VF TEF Beacon works experience is vital.
