JOB DESCRIPTION

J.P. Morgan has operated in Europe for nearly 200 years and has a sophisticated local market presence across Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA). Within the region, J.P. Morgan has an unparalleled client base and leadership across the spectrum of financial services products. The regional head office in London is complemented by a strong regional footprint, with offices in all major financial centres.

What You Can Expect

Our global Markets teams operate in all major financial markets and develop sophisticated financial solutions to help clients manage risk, increase returns and solve complex financial problems. Globally, we hold key positions across all major financial markets. This approach means you'll be part of an energetic team, helping to solve a range of stimulating and interesting business issues.

J.P. Morgan Global Research is one of the world’s most highly respected advisory franchises, providing thoughtful and differentiated exploration of sectors and companies, and actionable ideas and thematic insights that empower our clients to make well-informed investment and strategic conclusions, bringing clarity to complex situations. Research is fast-paced, demanding and stimulating.

The summer internship is a nine week program running June to August and is targeted at penultimate year or final year students and is a pipeline to the full analyst programme the following year.

Throughout your nine weeks with us, you’ll support senior colleagues with key research, evaluation and preparatory work. You will monitor markets, develop trade ideas, conduct portfolio reviews, and learn about the solutions and products we offer for clients to manage any market conditions. Your work and contributions will be valuable to the team from the start.

Dedicated instructors and J.P. Morgan professionals will teach you about our history, the scale and scope of our organisation today and our exciting plans for tomorrow. We’ll teach you technical and practical skills that will help suitably prepare you for your desk.

The program is an opportunity to take your career to the next level through hands-on experience, relevant skills training and valuable professional networking. Based on your personal and collaborative achievements, those who successfully complete the program may receive offers of full-time employment for the analyst programme the following year.

Roles are recruited for on a rolling basis with the majority of Assessment Centres taking place between September and December. If successful, a matching process takes place in the February before you start, whereby you will take part in a selection of speed networking sessions with all available desks within Research. You will then be asked to rank order all desks, for which the desks will carry out the same process – we will then look to match desks with interns with the highest collective match.

About You

A strong interest in global financial markets, as well as investigative and quantitative skills, flexibility, attention to detail, and that you enjoy and thrive in a collaborative environment. A well-rounded academic background that includes details of extra-curricular positions is also of interest to us. We accept applications from all degree disciplines as we respect and admire diversity of thought, but especially for our trading and structuring tracks, it is useful to enjoy numerical and quantitative work.

Additional requirements include:

  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills for the country to which you are applying.
  • Willing to take on some responsibility and manage your own projects in collaboration with your colleagues.
  • Graduation date from April 2024 to December 2025

Beyond that, what we’re most interested in are the things that make you, you: the personal qualities, outside interests and achievements beyond academia that demonstrate the kind of person you are and the difference you could bring to the team.

Please note, not all hiring desks require specific languages however there will be some that do. Please ensure you list your language fluency skills on your application form to help us identify the most appropriate opportunities for you.

We recommend that you apply to one Markets program only

Application Deadline

Closes: 26th November 2023

What’s next?

Help us learn about you by submitting a complete and thoughtful application, which includes your resume. Your application and resume is a way for us to initially get to know you, so it’s important to complete all relevant application questions so we have as much information about you as possible.

To start the application, you will be prompted to enter your email address. Your email address will be used to create and maintain your profile so make sure it is one you will have long term access to. Do not use an email address with “.edu or .ac.uk” extension as doing so could result in delays receiving updates regarding your candidacy. After you confirm your application, we will review it to establish suitability for the role you have applied for.

If you are advanced to the next step of the process, you’ll receive an email invitation to complete a video interview, powered by HireVue. This is your opportunity to further bring your resume to life and showcase your experience for our recruiting team and hiring managers. These questions will focus primarily on your interest in the Markets business and present you with an opportunity to showcase your motivations to join J.P.Morgan.

The HireVue process is required, and your application will not be considered for further review until you have completed these three questions. We strongly encourage that you apply and complete these required elements as soon as possible, since programs will close as positions are filled.
