Is this role right for you?
The Global Risk Management Summer Internship is an exciting opportunity to join the London-based Risk team of a Canadian Bank for 10 weeks during Summer 2023. This programme is rotational and will provide the opportunity to gain a varied experience in the different areas within the Risk division in an Investment Bank. This internship will allow you to deepen your understanding of how an Investments Bank’s Risk function works, and learn what it takes to be a trusted business partner.
This role sits within the GRM team in London which focuses on: credit risk, counterparty risk, market risk, liquidity risk, climate risk, stress testing and non-financial risks including operational risks, IT & cybersecurity risk, third-party risk and model risk.
What will my responsibilities look like?
- Assist with preparing the Risk reporting packs for various Committees in London
- Working with the SMEs, assist various tasks on Operational risk, IT and Cyber risk and Third-Party risk
- Assist the Chief Risk Officer with the quarterly update of the top and emerging risks
- Provide assistance with the assessment and evaluation of all credit applications submitted by Corporate Banking Europe and GCM Banking to ensure appropriate local oversight of all credit risk
- Assist with monitoring the quality of accounts and providing timely review of all applications and submissions
- Assist in the provision of accurate and timely reporting and monitoring of the London trade floor counterparty risk portfolio.
- Closely follow markets and design a market data dashboard across asset class using Bloomberg feed and excel
- Run BAU market risk process including limit monitoring and reporting

- Are a penultimate year undergraduate student studying a relevant degree (e.g., Economics, Business Management, Finance and Accounting, Mathematics, Sciences, Engineering, Law, etc.)
- Have a basic understanding of banking and risk management
- Have an analytical mindset with a passion for critical thinking and working collaboratively
- Possess excellent interpersonal skills and are looking to work as part of a diverse and inclusive team
