Key requirements

We are looking for a passionate, caring, and motivated Healthcare Support Workers.

For this post you are required to be a hold a SVQ level 3 / SCQF level 7 or equivalent level of education in a healthcare related subject. You should have a high standard of written and verbal communication skills, and ideally have current experience in a caring/healthcare environment. We will offer you excellent support and commitment to your professional development within ACENS and NHS Lothian.


About ACENS

The Adult Complex and Exceptional Needs team is expanding due to an increase in referrals to the service. We are looking for dynamic healthcare support workers to join our team.

ACENS is a community-based service that provides care to adults with exceptional and complex health needs who live throughout the Lothians. The team works in partnership with patients, families, Social Work teams, and the wider MDT providing up to 24 hour, 7 days a week care tailored to the individual’s needs.

ACENS staff work as lone workers but as part of a wider team. Staff have continual access to indirect support from a registered nurse at all times. This is a very rewarding post enabling patients to live in their home environment and access the wider community.


Duties and

Responsibilities

You will work within the team providing hands on care to patients.

Patient needs are varied and can include invasive/non-invasive ventilation, airway management, medication administration, enteral feeding, complex and unique epilepsy and or other complex neurological conditions.

In addition to your clinical skills, we are interested in your passion for working in healthcare and your commitment to delivering excellent patient centred care, as well as a demonstration of personal values aligned to those of our organisation.

Responsibilities include:

  • Delivery of patient care within the parameters of a defined care plan.
  • Contributing to the assessment of care needs and evaluation of care plans, ensuring the delivery of high-quality care to patients.
  • Although not a permanent night shift post it will involve a high number of night shifts.

This post requires the post holder to have a PVG Scheme membership/ record.
