About the Opportunity:
We are looking to recruit for 12 Month Industrial Placements in Analytical Chemistry across sites in Macclesfield and Cambridge in the UK.
You will be responsible for delivering the analytical understanding to progress the development of life-changing medicines within a dynamic team environment. As a key member of this team responsible for delivering the analytical activities to meet project development timelines, you will work collaboratively with synthetic chemists, formulation scientists, engineers and external partners to achieve successful delivery of goals.
You will be working as a member of an analytical team to help support the development of pharmaceutical drugs using a wide range of state-of-the-art analytical techniques. You will gain exposure across some of these techniques, including chromatographic (HPLC, GC, CE, SFC), spectroscopic (NMR UV, FTIR), hyphenated (LC-MS, GC-MS) and other essential techniques (ICP-OES and XRPD). You will ensure that work is performed in accordance with appropriate Safety, Health & Environment (SHE), quality and compliance standards, e.g. Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), Good Laboratory Practice (GLP).
You will also have the opportunity to enhance your transferable skills to extend your proficiency as a scientist by presenting your work to other scientists and wider teams that will enhance your communication skills. You will also have the opportunity to engage with the wider network through our Employee Resource Groups.
Qualification, Skills & Experience
Required:
Currently undertaking an undergraduate degree in Chemistry or related discipline (e.g. Natural Sciences) with the opportunity to spend 1 year in industry starting in September 2024.
Able to provide an expected time commitment of 36.5 hours per Monday-Friday working week on Campus.
